It’s still WAY too freakin’ hot here today. I had to drive my mom around today, first to the vascular surgeon and then to her beauty parlour appointment. In between I ran over to the eyeglass store to order myself a pair. I saw the eye doctor a few days ago after putting it off for too long. He said that at my age (42) I’m right on schedule. I had been having difficulty reading fine print, especially labels on bottles, and also doing things like threading needles. It turned out my left eye is pretty good but my right is only about 20/60. I also have a slight astigmatism. I will need glasses for reading and for distance. Who knew I was so blind? LOL I didn’t notice the distance problem, at least not lately because I don’t do a lot of long distance driving. I used to notice a problem when I would drive at night, especially trying to read street signs.
The doctor said it would be better for me to get two separate pairs of glasses, one for reading and the other for distance. I told him I didn’t think my insurance would cover two pairs and he said I could get bifocals. There’s a much more limited selection of frames when you are getting bifocals, even more so within my insurance plan. The free frames I would not give to my grandmothers and they both died in the 80s. I wound up getting a not-sooo-bad wire frame for $27. I figure it’s something for now, I have a record of my prescription and I will see how they feel when I get used to them. If I decide I want a nicer/more expen$ive frame later on and I have the dough to shell out then I can always get another pair later. My insurance changed as of the first of this month, so I got that pair with the old insurance while I still could. I don’t think I have very good vision coverage with the new insurance, especially for glasses. I haven’t received my ID cards yet so I can’t access anything yet.
By the time I got done with ordering the glasses, paying my Sprint bill and picking up my mom from the vascular surgeon it was around noon and I felt sick from the heat. I mean nauseaus and dizzy and my legs and head were going numb. I didn’t have time to have breakfast or to give my little girl any either before we had to pick up my mom for her appointment. My mom was hungry because she had to fast for her appointment. So we went to Panera for brunch. By the time we got there I could barely walk I was so weak from the heat and humidity, and not eating earlier. I had been drinking water so I was not dehydrated. Once we got into the air conditioning and I was able to eat a salad with salmon I felt 100% better. I wish the A/C in my car worked, but my car isn’t running great all the way around lately. My brother is supposed to service the tranny and do an oil change tomorrow night. Hopefully that will make a difference. Maybe he can look at the A/C while he is at it. I know it costs an arm and a leg in gas to run it but on days like this when the air quality is making me sick I would go ahead and run it if I could.
I’ve been watching the news stories about the bridge collapse in
