I got the results back of my biopsies today and was very relieved to hear they were benign. I was driving when the call came in so I wasn’t able to write anything down. The doctor’s assistant did say there was something going on with the cervix and they do want to repeat the colposcopy in 4 months. I can’t wait…. NOT! But for now, I’m just happy to know after 6 months of not knowing and biting my nails, that at least for this moment, there’s no cancer. And that’s a very good thing. And I’m very grateful for the few friends who I have told at church who have been keeping me in their prayers, as well as my friends here who have done the same.
I was on my way home from the blood bank when I got the doctor’s call. I had gone to donate platelets earlier this afternoon. I was so surprised to find I was the only platelet donor they had all afternoon. All their employees kept coming up to me and thanking me for coming in and giving them something to do. I felt so bad that there were not more donors. Platelet donations are only good for 7 days, and they go to patients in the most need, like cancer patients getting chemo. And you can donate as often as every 3 days, though I don’t know anyone who would actually do it that often. But even every couple of weeks or every month would be really helpful.

It really doesn’t hurt, and only takes about 2 hours of your time. If you are over 17, over 110 lbs and in good health you are probably eligible. In my state (NY) if you have parental permission you can donate blood at 16. During the summer months donations tend to go down because a lot of people go away. If you are scheduling a vacation soon, why not take an hour or two and schedule a blood donation too? Trust me, you will feel really glad you did!
That is such great news Laura
I'm glad the test results were clear.
