Happy Mothers Day!

My son made me this card at school (it’s tissue paper with a jewel in the middle of the flower). He also made a card on the computer there, with the following written on the front:
Mom,
On Mother’s Day,
I want you to know
I appreciate all the
Practical lessons you
Taught me… separating
The darks from lights…
Knowing hot, warm,
Or cold…
(then you open the card and inside it reads…)
There’s just one thing – which
one’s the washer?
Happy Mother’s Day!
I thought that was pretty darned cute. He gave it to me on Friday because he was afraid the flower would rip in his backpack if he waited til today. Probably a good thing since he was a skutch this morning anyway. I couldn’t get him up to go out for breakfast. He refused to get up because he was up til 3AM. He just told me he hated me and wished I was dead (nothing I’m not used to hearing but I could have done without it today). So I left him home and took the girls, and we met my brother, sis-in-law, nephew and my mother at a diner for breakfast before church. My older daughter didn’t want to go but I managed to drag her there. I told her my son was going to be punished for a full week for his rudeness and lack of cooperation. We had a nice breakfast and exchanged a few gifts. My sis-in-law got me the most beautiful flowers and a pretty jar candle with my name (and it’s meaning) written on it that smells wonderful.
I called my son from the diner as we were leaving and he agreed to go to church, so I dropped off my daughter and picked him up on my way there. He was in a better frame of mind by then. The service had already started so I stayed in the nursery with my younger daughter for a while, until it was time for the Sunday School kids (all 10 of them) to go upstairs to sing. Every year on Mother’s Day the kids sing and then they hand out carnations to all the women in the congregation. So I brought my daughter up then and she sat with me for that part and then went back down afterward.
I was glad to see my friend Sophi had her son Chuck with her today. She is my friend Angela King’s mom. Angela was the woman who had gotten brutally murdered out in
The lady who runs the nursery, May, is so thoughtful. She always gets things for the kids for every little holiday, and today she gave me a nice bag with all sorts of little gifts for Mother’s Day, FROM my little girl, she said because my little girl is too young to go shopping for me by herself, is that cute or what? It was so nice of her, and I felt bad because I did want to shop to get her something too and just didn’t get a chance. I wanted to get my son’s Sunday school teacher something too. Oh well, I am going to get them both something nice for the end of the year and that is coming up really soon. I don’t know what that will BE yet, but it will be nice.
I have the rest of the day to myself, to do whatever… I might try to scrap a page or two. I did a two page layout yesterday that took hours and hours… I was just trying out some new techniques and tools, and before I knew it I turned around and looked at the clock, and it was 3AM… am I obsessed? Ya think?
BTW – Meka sent me a wonderful poem in response to my entry “Save the Drama for your Mama”, called, “Reflections Of A Mother.” I recommend it to all moms, but especially moms of adolescents and teenagers! I know it was just what I needed to read, to know I was not alone and not going crazy either. Thanks so much for sending it to me Meka! Ya see, there IS a mush in there after all.
Thanx for your visit
